Expanding Public Transportation

A fundamental American freedom is the ability to travel wherever you want. We need to repair our aging infrastructure and expand public transportation. The highway system, funded by the government, is just one of the ways to offer this freedom of movement. The most efficient, economical, and effective way to offer this freedom is with a sprawling high speed rail network across America. Every other developed nation has a wide ranging rail network including high speed trains.\n\nDuring the time I spent in Germany, I never once owned or rented a car because their public transportation system is decades ahead of ours. As one of the wealthiest countries in the world, we should have a state of the art transportation system, but instead we have been falling behind because of our unwillingness to invest in our infrastructure. This is unacceptable.
