In the past few decades, union membership has dropped dramatically due to neoliberal policies and a deliberate effort to prevent unionization. As a result, wealth and power have increased dramatically for the top 1% while wages for workers have failed to keep up with inflation, resulting in extreme levels of income inequality.

We need to strengthen union membership across the country. An organized population is one that cannot be taken advantage of. We should pass the PRO Act, make union busting a criminal offense, and stand in solidarity with workers. By encouraging unionization and worker co-ops, we can begin to close the wage gap, improve working conditions, and revitalize the middle class.
